뿔말(가래과 뿔말속)

동해안의 석호를 뒤지다가 실처럼 가느다란 잎을 가진 말 종류가 물 위에 떠 다니는 걸 발견하였다.

처음에는 실말 종류일까 하며 최대한 접사하여 촬영을 해 왔는데

긴 암술대 끝에 깔대기 모양의 암술머리가 관찰되고 바나나 모양을 한 열매 끝에 긴 암술대가 뿔처럼 남아 있는 게 보인다.

 

도감을 확인하니 모든 게 뿔말에 가장 근접한다.

뿔말은 전 세계에 분포하는 종으로 우리 나라 해안가의 연못이나 수로나 담수호에서 자생하는 침수성 여러해살이풀이다

줄기 마디마다 뿌리를 내리고 5-8cm의 실같은 잎을 가지고 있다.

 

전통적으로 뿔말속은 뿔말(Z. palustris) 1종으로 분류되어 있으나.

최근의 형태 및 염색체 연구 결과 유럽에 6종 이상이 분포하는 것으로 보고되었다 .국내에는 뿔말속에 ‘뿔말’ 1종만이 보고되어 있다.

꽃은 일가화로 동일 화경에 4-5개의 암꽃과 1개의 수꽃이 달린다

 

 

줄기 마디에 길이 5-8㎝, 나비 0.5㎜정도의 잎이  2-3장 씩 윤생하고 원줄기를 감싸는 탁엽이 있다.

줄기 마디마다 뿌리가 내리고 한 마디씩 건너서 수중경이 나온다고 하는데

접사 촬영을 하며 마디 확인을 했더니만 2마디 마다 잎이 나오고 줄기가 생성되는 모습이 확인 된다. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 열매는 2mm 크기로 반달(초생달) 모양이다.

 

 

과병이 1.5-3.3mm 정도로 자라며

열매 끝에 암술대가 숙존하여 뿔처럼 달려 있다.
