검정말(자라풀과 검정말속) Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.) Royle

이태 전에 물 위에 떠다니는 수꽃까지 촬영해 놓고도 정리를 해두지 않았다.

이 녀석은 긴 꽃자루를 가진 암꽃이 잎겨드랑이에서 나와 물 위에 꽃잎을 펼치면

수꽃은 성숙하면 식물체에서 분리되어 물 위에 떠오르고,  물 위에 떠다니면서 꽃가루를 배달한다.

 

잎은 3~9장이 돌려나고, 난형 또는 타원형, 길이 6~20mm, 폭 1~3.5mm이다. 가장자리에 얕은 톱니가 있다. 

 

수꽃의 꽃받침잎과 꽃잎은 각각 3장이고 연분홍색, 보트 모양으로 되며 길이 1.5mm 정도이다.

암꽃은 잎겨드랑이에서 1개씩 달린다. 암꽃의 꽃받침잎과 꽃잎은 각각 3장, 도란형, 길이 2.5mm 정도이다. 

열매는 폐과, 길이 1~3cm, 표면에 가시 모양의 돌기가 발달하기도 한다. 씨는 2~4개가 들어 있으며 갈색이고 방추형이다. 

아직 열매를 보지 못하였는데 산책할 때 수변천을 잘 살펴 봐야겠다.

수꽃이다. 물방울이 꽃보다 더 크다
