참식나무(녹나무과) 열매 Neolitsea sericea (Blume) Koidz.

그렇게도 보고싶어 하던 참식나무 열매를 올해는 원 없이 담아 본다.

작년에 이 곳 곶자왈에서 열매를 찾았었는데도 꼭대기에 겨우 몇 알 보이더니만 올해는 빼곡하게도 달려서 반겨 준다.

열매도 해걸이를 하나 보다. 

 

암수딴그루로 잎겨두랑이에 꽃자루가 없는 자잘한 노란색 꽃이 산형화서로 핀다

열매는 다음해 새 꽃이 필 때 쯤 붉게 익는다. 지금 보이는 열매는 지난 해 꽃이 피어서 달린 것이다.

참식나무, 육박나무, 까마귀쪽나무, 사스레피나무, 보리밥나무..등의 상록수들은 가을에 꽃이 피어서 이듬 해 열매가 익는 경우가 많다.

 

 

 

 

 

꽃은 10~11월 경에 피어서 다음 해 10~11월에 붉게 익는다.

가지 끝 부분에 꽃이 지고 마악 달린 여린 열매들이 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

어린가지에는 털이 덮혀 있으나 점차 사라지고 녹색으로 변한다. 새로 돋아나는 잎은 마치 죽은 잎처럼 난다.

 

 

 

엽신은 긴 타원형, 난상 피침형 또는 피침형이고 잎끝은 뾰족하고 가장자리가 밋밋하고 뒷면은 회백색이다
