녹나무(녹나무과) 열매 Cinnamomum camphora (L.) J.Presl

제주의 상록수들은 늘 어렵다. 특히 녹나무과는 그 넘이 그 넘 같아서 담아와서 찬찬히 확인해야 이름을 붙여줄 수 있다.

작년에도 열매가 다 떨어지고 꽃받침을 달고 있는 과경만 남은 녀석 이름 찾느라고 녹나무과 식구들은 다 들쑤셨었다.

녹나무과 중에서도 화경이 긴 녀석으로 녹나무, 생달나무, 센달나무, 육계나무가 있다.

그 중에 잎맥이 3맥 뚜렷한 잎으로 녹나무, 생달과 육계나무로 좁혀진다.

 

육계나무는 중국 원산이라 우리 나라 자생은 아니고 이 녀석은 녹나무나 생달나무로 봐야겠다.

작년에 담았던 녀석은 잎맥 3개가 뚜렷한 좁고 긴 잎을 가진 생달나무였는데

이 녀석은 잎이 더 넓고 가장자리가 물결 모양이라 결국 이 녀석은 녹나무로 방망이를 두드린다.

 

 

 

잎은 호생하며 얕은 혁질이고 자르면 향기가 있으며 난형 또는 난상 타원형이고 길이 6-10㎝, 넓이 3-6㎝로서

첨두 예저이며 기부는 넓은 설저이거나 둥글다.

 

 

 

양면에 털이 없고 가장자리에 파상의 톱니가 있으며 뒷면은 회록색이지만 어린 잎은 붉은빛이 돌고 3개의 맥이 뚜렷하며 3행맥의 분기점에 보통 2개의 소낭(일종의 선점(腺點))이 있다. 엽병은 길이 1.5-2.5cm로서 털이 없다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

꽃은 양성화로서 5월에 피며 백색에서 황색으로 되고 새가지의 엽액에서 나오는 원추화서에 달리며 꽃이 지름 4.5㎜로 작다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

높이 20-m, 지름 2m에 달하고 소지는 황록색이며 윤채가 있고 피목이 있으나 털이 없다.

수피는 암갈색으로 세로로 깊게 패인다. 동아(冬芽) 의 인편은 복와상이다
