센달나무(녹나무과)

생달나무, 녹나무, 새덕이, 육박나무, 참식나무 등과 함께 녹나무과의 한 녀석이다.

녹나무과 수종 대부분 자료를 담았는데 센달나무 를 만나지 못하였다고 하니 백서향 곶자왈에 센달나무가 있다고 한다.

 

허 참! 그 곳을 여러 번 들락거렸는데 왜 나는 보지 못하였을까?

하기사 그 때는 센달나무 잎을 눈에 익혀 두지 않았으니 옆을 지나쳐도 몰랐었겠지.

 

센달나무 잎은 다른 녹나무과에 비하여 좁고 길며 꼬리가 길게 빠지고 물결성 거치가 있는 점이 특징이라

곶자왈에 들어 서면서 금방 찾을 수 있었다. 도감에서 이미지를 기억해 둔 덕분이다. 역시 눈이 보배라는 걸 증명해 준다.

 

 

 

잎은 호생하고 피침형 또는 도피침형으로 길이 8-20cm, 너비 2-4cm이며 좁고 긴 점첨두이거나 꼬리처럼 길다

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

표면은 청록색, 뒷면은 청백색이며 양면에 털이 없고 가장자리에 톱니가 없으며 뒷면에 우상맥은 12쌍이다.

엽병은 길이 1-3cm로서 털이 없다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

높이가 10m에 달하며 소지는 회갈색이고 동아와 더불어 털이 없으며 골속이 연한 갈색이다.

 

 

 

 

잔가지가 옆으로 퍼지는 듯 성장을 한다.

 

 

어린나무의 수피

 

 

 수피에 도돌 도돌한 피목이 있다. 우리 나라 거제도, 제주도 등 남쪽 섬에 자생한다.
