육박나무(녹나무과 육박나무속) Actinodaphne lancifolia (Blume) Meisn.

얼룩덜룩 부정형의 수피무늬가 아름다운 녀석이다.

비슷한 수피로 노각나무, 모과나무, 양버즘나무가 있는데 육박나무는 제주에서 자생하는 상록성수목이다.

 

제주에는 가을에 꽃을 피우는 상록수들이 많다.

이 녀석이 꽃을 피웠다는 정보에 일부러 달려 갔는데 벌써 다 사그러져 버렸다.

암그루라면 어린 열매라도 있었을텐데 수그루라서 잎겨드랑이에 마른 꽃 찌꺼기만 보인다 

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 호생하며 긴 타원형 또는 도란상 피침형이고 길이 7-10cm, 너비 2-4cm로서 둔두 예저이며 가장자리가 밋밋하고 표면은 짙은 녹색으로서 털이 없으며 윤채가 있고 뒷면은 회록색으로서 잔털이 밀생하며 7-10쌍의 우상맥이 있고 엽병은 길이 0.8-1.5cm로서 어릴 때 털이 약간 있다.

 

 

 

 

일주일 전 쯤 꽃을 피우고 있었다고 하는데 잎 겨드랑이에 꽃이 진 흔적만 남아 있다.

열매가 안 보이는 걸 보니 수그루인가 보다.

 

7월경에 엽액에서 화경이 없는 산형화서가 발달하며 밖은 인편으로 싸여 있고 꽃은 이가화이며 총포편은 황색으로서 꽃잎같고

화피가 뚜렷하지 않게 6개로 갈라지며 수꽃은 9개의 수술이 있고 그 중에서 안쪽 줄의 3개는 선체가 있다

 

 

 

높이가 15m에 달하고 수피는 평활하며 연한 흑자색이고 둥글고 큰 비늘처럼 떨어져서 버즘나무,모과나무의 수피같이 되어 섬사람들은 해병대나무라고 한다. 소지는 자갈색이며 좁은 피목이 있고 털이 없다.
