지난 12월 동글동글 맺혀 있던 수꽃 봉오리가 빨갛게 색을 내고 있다
머 잖아서 고 작은 꽃의 꽃술이 벌어지면서 꽃 가루가 날리지 싶다.
꽃은 자색으로 5월에 피며 암수한그루이다. 수꽃은 위를 향하고, 암꽃은 가지 끝에서 아래를 향하여 달린다.
이 녀석은 수꽃이다.
표면은 윤채가 있는 진녹색이고 뒷면에 2줄의 흰색 기공조선이 있으며 끝이 오목하고 엽병은 뚜렷하며 길이 1mm이다.
구과 솔방울은 황갈색으로 타원형 또는 난형이고 가지 끝에 1개씩 매달려서 아래로 주렁주렁 매달려서 10월에 익는다.
솔방울은 길이 20-25mm, 지름 15mm로서 대가 있다.
