학교 동창회 체육대회가 있어서 잠시 행사에 참석을 하였다.
모교를 책임지고 있으니 축사 한 마디를 해야 한다고....
오전 시간 자리를 지켜 주다가 슬그머니 카메라를 들고 나왔다.
방향을 어디로 할까 하다가 가까운 학가산이나 가 보려고 차를 모는데
아하~! 이 녀석 열매가 어느 정도 익어가고 있는지 봐야 할 때라는 생각이들었다
사찰 앞 사면으로 조심스레 들어가니 와우~!!!!
열매가 주렁주렁이다.
사진 상으로는 꽤 큼지막하게 보이겠지만 열매 크기는 내 검지 손톱만 하다
지금 이렇게 자란 열매는 지난해 달려서 올해 자라기 시작하는 열매로
지름 1.7-1.8cm인데 비자나무 보다 크기가 적다. 8-9월에 적색으로 익을 것이다.
가지 끝에 자잘하게 잘려 있는 것은 올 봄에 꽃을 피워서 달고 있는 햇 열매이다
더 자라지도 않고 이런 상태로 내년 봄까지 지내다가 새로운 꽃이 피고 나면 서서히 굵어지는 것이다
하나의 화서에 여러 개의 배주가 있지만 그 중에서 1~2개가 열매로 결실을 하게 되는데
몇 개의 화서에서 성숙한 열매가 이렇게 모여 있어서 마치 한송이 처럼 보일 때도 있다.
