월귤(진달래과)

2011. 8. 7. 백두산 주변 습지.

 

꽃을 보지 못하여 아쉽지만 이렇게 귀여운 열매를 보았으니 그리 섭섭하지는 않다.

키가 거의 바닥에 붙어 있을 만큼 작았고 신경써서 살피지 않으면 그냥 지나칠 뻔 할 정도로 열매도 작았다.

 

월귤이 고산 정상부에 자생하는데 비하여 애기월귤은 고원 습지에 자생하며 줄기가 거의 선태층에 뭍혀 있어서

키가 작고, 꽃은 줄기 끝에 1~2송이 씩 피며 잎가장자리가 뒤로 말린다고 한다.

 

해서 혹시나 애기월귤이 아닐까 하여 자료를 확인해 봤는데 

애기원귤은 넌출월귤속으로 넌출월귤보다 잎이 작고 줄기가 곧게 자라고 화경에 털이 없는 점이 다르다고 하니

넌출월귤과 비슷한 녀석중에 체형이 작은 녀석을 떠올리면 될 것 같다.

 

 

 

열매는 둥글고 지름 8-10mm로서 8-9월에 적색으로 익으며 신맛이 강하다.

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 호생하고 혁질이며 난형 또는 도란형이고 둔두 또는 요두이며 예저이고 길이 1-3cm, 폭 5-13mm로서

양면에 털이 없으며 가는 톱니가 있고 표면은 짙은 녹색이며 광택이 나고 뒷면은 연한 녹색으로서 흑색점이 산생한다.
