백두에 오고 싶은 이유 중의 하나가 고운 가솔송 꽃을 보고싶어서 이기도 하지만
가송송은 오래 기다려 주지 않았다.
벌써 천지의 푸른 물빛과 푸른 하늘빛으로 붉게 열매를 빚고 있었다.
진달래과이지만 잎이 마치 소나무처럼 선형이라 <송>이란 접미어를 달고 있다.
우리 나라 북부지방의 고산지대 함경북도 백두산 해발 1,500~2,300m의 산 윗쪽 고원 지에 자생하는 고산식물 키 10~30cm정도 자란다.
고산의 식물답게 한 뼘도 안 되는 키로 항아리 모양의 붉은 꽃을 피우는데 그 앙징스러운 꽃을 언제 볼 수 있을런지....
뒷면 중륵에 백색 잔털이 있으며 가장자리에 잔톱기가 있고 약간 뒤로 젖혀진다.
