7월 초순이었던가? 남도 끝 자락 섬까지 이 녀석 꽃을 보려고 먼길 달려 갔던.
정금나무와 함께 한국산 토종 블루베리라 칭할 만큼 열매에 블루베리 못지 않은 성분이 들어 있어서
이 녀석 종자를 발아시키려고 애를 쓰는 분들이 꽤 있는 모양인데 실패담만 검색이 된다.
헌데 정금나무나 모새나무나 워낙 열매가 작아서 블루베리에 비하여 경제성은 거의 없어 보인다.
열매 맛은 단맛이 조금 느껴지는 듯하지만 시큼한 맛이 강한 정금나무와 비슷하다.
열매 배꼽에 마치 꽃처럼 생긴 꽃받침 흔적이 이쁘다.
화서에는 잔잎 모양의 포엽이 그대로 달려 있다.
