함박이(새모래덩굴과 함박이속) 수꽃 Stephania japonica (Thunb.) Miers

아무래도 이 녀석이 일가화라는데 동의 못하겠다.

자잘한 열매가 달린 암꽃 줄기가 엉긴 덩굴을 아무리 찾아 봐도 수꽃은 찾을 수가 없고

수꽃이 다글다글한 줄기를 아무리 들춰 봐도 암꽃을 찾을 수가 없기 때문이다. 작년부터 관찰하건데 암수딴포기 즉 이가화로 보인다.

 

얼마 전에 국립수목원 희귀식물 하우스에는 수꽃만 피어서 열매가 맺지 않는다는 이야기를 들은 적이 있다.

그런 점들로 봐서도 분명 암수딴포기가 분명한데 이창복 도감, 이영노도감, 네이쳐 기재문에는 일가화로 되어 있으니....

 

새모래덩굴도 마찬가지로 일가화로 되어 있다.

새모래덩굴도 함박이처럼 수꽃이 피는 덩굴 무리를 살피면 암꽃은 볼 수가 없었고 암꽃이 피는 무리를 살피면 수꽃은 얼씬도 하지 않았었다.

그런데도 권위 있는 두 개의 도감과 네이쳐에는 함박이나 새모래덩굴을 일가화로 기록하고 있으니...답답한 노릇이다.

 

두어 포기를 따로 길러 보면 분명하게 확인이 될 것 같은데....

 

 

수꽃이다.

복산형화서로 수꽃은 꽃받침 6~8개, 꽃잎 3~4개, 수술 6개이고

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

암꽃이다.

암꽃은 꽃받침과 꽃잎이 3~4개, 1개의 씨방에 여러 개로 갈라진 암술대가 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

일찍 꽃이 핀 녀석은 벌써 열매가 구슬처럼 크고 있었다.

 

 

 

동그란 방패모양의 잎이 참 귀여운 녀석이다.

함박이와 같은 방기과인  새모래덩굴은 잎 가운데에 잎자루가 붙어 있고,

댕댕이덩굴은 잎자루가 잎 가장자리에 붙어 있다.
