방기(새모래덩굴과 방기속) Sinomenium acutum (Thunb.) Rehder & E.H.Wilson

중부 지역이 쏟아지는 장맛비로 물바다가 되었다는 소식이다.

안동과 영남 지역은 며칠동안 폭염주의보가 내려서 잠시만 돌아댕겨도 땀으로 샤워를 하는데 말이다.

우리 나라도 꽤 넓은 모양이다.

 

장마 중에도 비가 오지 않은 남쪽으로 천리 넘는 길을 떠났다.

아직 보지 못했던 몇 녀석이 이 장마 기간에 꽃을 피우기 때문이다.

 

목적지에 거의 도착하여 마주오는 차가 있을까 가슴 졸이면서 임도 길을 고불거리면서 올랐는데...

 

이런 이런!! 제길 헐~~!!!

지난 해 봐 두었던 방기덩굴 어우러졌던 숲 자락이 숲가꾸기 사업인지 뭔지 때문에 완전 아작이 나 버렸다.

 

임도 옆에 있던 덩굴들은 흔적조차 없고 20m 가 넘는 교목 위로 오르던 덩굴은 원 줄기가 잘려서인지 고사해 버렸다.

암꽃이고 수꽃이고 방기 자체가 방귀 냄새 처럼 산화되어 사라져 버렸으니...

 

 

망연자실하여 멍하니 서 있는데 저 멀리 산판 작업이 끝난 가장자리 나무에

방기덩굴이 나무를 타고 엉겨 있는 모습이 눈에 들어 온다.

 

 

 

아고야~! 그래도 살아 남은 녀석이 있다 싶어서 허겁지겁 올라가니

오르는 중에도 여기 저기 새로 돋아나는 방기 잎들이 애처로워 보인다.

 

 

 

 

나무 아래 도착해서 살펴보니 위 쪽에 화서가 달린게 보인다.

헌데 너무 높다. 우씨~!! 천리길 달려 왔는데 꽃구경도 못하고 그냥 돌아가야 한단 말시?

 

 

 

입맛만 쩝쩝 다시다가 뒤쪽으로 돌아가니.

우와~! 대박이다~!!!

 

쓰러진 나무의 잔가지에 엉겨 있는 덩굴에서 꽃이 피고 있다.

산판 작업으로 쓰러진 나무에 엉겨 있던 방기의 원줄기가 용케도 끊어지지 않았던 모양이다.

덕분에 편안하게 서서 담을 수 있으니 오히려 산판 작업을 한게 전회위복이 된 셈이다.

 

 

 

마악 꽃이 피기 시작하는 중이라 화서는 풍성하지만 개화한 것은 몇 개 되지 않았다.

 

 

 

얼추 시기를 맞춘다고 온 게 적당하긴 했지만 일주일 뒤에 왔더라면 더 풍성하게 개화를 했을텐데...좀 아쉽다.

암꽃을 찾을까 싶어서 뒤쪽 숲을 뒤졌지만 암꽃은 찾을 수가 없었다.

 

   

 

 

 

녹색의 줄기와 십수년 묵은 굵은 줄기가 바닥에 뒹굴고 있다.
