방기(새모래덩굴과 방기속) 열매와 종자 Sinomenium acutum (Thunb.) Rehder & E.H.Wilson

9월 중순 파랗게 매달려 있던 방기 열매가 검은색으로 익었다.

마치 머루 열매처럼 주저리가 풍성한데 농익은 일부 열매는 저절로 떨어지기 시작하고 있다.

먼지처럼 자잘한 꽃에서 어찌 이리도 풍성하게 열매를 달았을까 싶어 신기하기까지 하다

 

암꽃을 담지는 못하였지만 올해 꽃에서 열매까지 방기에 대한 자료는 완벽하게 확보하였다.

남도 어느 섬에서 교목 줄기를 타고 오르는 방기덩굴을 어렵사리 만났더랬는데

제주도에 이렇게 흔하게 서식하고 있었던 걸 몰랐었다.

 

 

 

이 녀석은 20m 정도의 교목 위에 까지 덩굴을 올릴 정도로 세력이 대단한 녀석이다.

 

 

 

 

줄기가 녹색을 띠며

 

잎은 넓은 난형 또는 장상 다각형이며 원저 또는 심장저이며

가장자리는 밋밋하거나 3-7개의 얕은 물결모양의 결각이 있다.

 

표면에 털이 없으며 뒷면은 회록색으로서 털이 없거나 잔털이 있고 장상의 맥이 있으며 엽병은 길이 5-10cm이다.
