새모래덩굴(새모래덩굴과 새모래덩굴속) 열매 Menispermum dauricum DC.

봄에 이 녀석 꽃을 담으면서 열매가 맺힐 때 담아야겠다고 해 놓고선 깜빡 잊고 있었다.

잊었다기 보다 그 다음에 갔을 때 밭 주인이 새모래덩굴을 다 베어 버려서 열매 담기는 글렀다고 했는데

 

강원도 꽃탐사 갔다가 큰조롱 꽃을 찾느라고 두리번 거리는 주변에 새모래덩굴이 무성하길래  

혹시나 싶어서 덩굴을 뒤집어 보니...오예~! 열매가 몇 개 보인다.

 

잠시 덩굴을 뒤져서 겨우 세개의 열매를 찾았는데

과경 끝부분 열매 가까이에 소화경이 붙어 있던 흔적이 보이고 콩팥 모양의 열매가 길다란 과경에 딱 한 개씩 달려 있다.

이 녀석은 잎 겨드랑이마다 암꽃을 그렇게 많이 피우는 데도 결실률은 매우 낮은 것 같다.

 

도감과 네이쳐 기재문에는 이 녀석이 일가화라고 한다.

그렇지만 내가 관찰한 바로는 새모래덩굴 꽃이 필 때 보면 암꽃이 있는 덩굴 주변에는 수꽃이 전혀 보이지 않고

수꽃이 피는 무더기에 보면 암꽃을 찾아 볼 수가 없다는 거다.

 

그렇다면 이 녀석은 일가화가 아니라 이가화 즉 암수딴그루임에 분명하다

제주에 서식하는 같은 방기과의 함박이도 마찬가지로 도감과 네이쳐에는 일가화로 되어 있지만 나는 암수딴그루로 확신을 한다.

 

 

열매는 핵과로서 둥근 신장형이고 지름 7mm정도로서 요철(凹凸)이 심한 홈이 있으며 9월에 검게 익는다

 

 

 

 

 

 

 암꽃은 이렇게 길다한 화경에 여러 송이가 피고 한 송이에 3개의 자방이 있는데

열매는 한 개가 결실하였으니 환경이 좋지 못해서 그럴까? 결실율이 너무 낮다.

 

 

아래는 수꽃이다. 이 녀석은 분명 이가화가 맞을 것이다. 암꽃이 피는 줄기에서 수꽃이 피는 걸 보질 못했으니까.
