비술나무(느릅나무과) Ulmus pumila L.

대구 가는 고속도로에서 이 녀석 때문에 차를 멈추었다.

지난 주 쇠뿔현호색 탐사 때 가던 길에 이 녀석 꽃봉오리 맺은 걸 차창으로 흘낏 보고 지나쳤었는데 그걸 깜빡 잊고 있었던 게다.

약속 시간이 빠듯하였지만 그냥 지니치려니 뒤꼭지가 간지러워서 망설이다가 멀찍이서 차를 멈추었다.

 

지난 번 얼핏보고 느릅나무라 생각하였더니 가늘게 늘어져 아래로 처진 가지를 보니 비술나무였다.

안동 인근에는 비술나무를 만나지 못하였는데 비록 고속도로변에 심어 둔 거지만 비술나무를 보니 웬 횡재냐 싶다.

동강할매 보러 가는 길에서나 이 녀석 꽃을 담을까 했더니 이리도 가까이 있었던 것을..

 

웬 여인네가 고속도로에서 카메라들고 나무를 쳐다 보고 있으니 봄비에 밭이 궁금하여 나오셨던 동네 어르신이 이상타~! 쳐다 보신다.

어르신요. 꽃 바람난 단디 난 아지매라요. ㅎㅎ..

 

흑자색의 꽃밥이 다글다글하다.

마악 개화하는 참이라서 연두색 2갈래진 암술 화주가 흐릿하게 보인다.

 

 

꽃은 양성으로서 3월에 잎보다 먼저 피며 취산화서는 엽액에 달린다. 수술도 4-5개이고 자방은 납작하고 화주는 2개이다.

 

 

느릅나무 꽃밥은 붉은색이 강한데, 비술나무의

꽃밥은 거의 검은색에 가깝다

.

 

 

 

욘석은 <느릅나무> 꽃이다. 붉은 색이 강하다.

 

 

 

비술나무 가지는 낭창낭창 늘어지고 휘어지는 느낌인데, 느릅나무 가지는 그런 느낌이 없다.

욘석은 <느릅나무> 가지다.

가늘어서 늘어지는 비술나무에 비하여 마디 사이가 짧고 굵다.

 

 

비술나무는 가지가 아래로 처지고 줄기 끝이 매우 가늘게 빠져서 느릅나무에 비하여 여성적인 느낌을 준다.

 

 

높이 15m, 지름 1m에 달하고 가지는 밑으로 늘어지는 성질이 있으며 수피는 회흑색으로 조각조각 갈라진다.

소지는 처음에는 털이 있으나 점차 없어지며 이년지는 회갈색이다.
