왕느릅나무(느릅나무과 느릅나무속) Ulmus macrocarpa Hance

몇 년 만에 개화 시기를 맞추었다. 올해도 세 번을 찾아갔는데 꽃이 피었다

 

이 곳에 커다란 열매가 달리는 왕느릅나무라는 걸 알고 있기에 오동정이 될 리는 없고,

느릅나무에 비하여 꽃밥주머니 색이 약간 더 검붉은 느낌이 드는데

함께 놓고 비교해 보기 전에는 차이를 알아채기 쉽지 않다.

 

느릅나무속 녀석들은 잎이 나기 전에 꽃잎도 없이 꽃을 피워서 시선을 끌지 못한다.

같은 식구들 중에 비술나무가 가장 먼저 꽃을 피우는데 벌써 파란 열매가 자라고 있다.

 

 

수술의 꽃밥이 터진 후 암술이 보일 정도로 나타나는데 아직 개화 초기라서 암술이 보이지 않는다.

 

 

가지 끝 부분에 뾰족한 동아가 잎눈이다.

 

높은 가지의 꽃밥은 다 터지고 꽃밥주머니가 검게 변하였다.
