비술나무(느릅나무과) Ulmus pumila L.

크~~ ! 이 녀석이 비술나무다.

동네 산 골짝에 있는 나무를 비술나무가 아닐까 하여 꽃 피기를 기다리며 문지방이 닳도록 찾아 다녔던 녀석은 느릅나무였다.

비술나무는 꽃밥이 암자색이라 느릅나무의 붉은자주색과 차이가 난다.

그런데 이미 꽃밥이 다 시들고 있어서 막 피었을 때의 꽃밥 색을 확인할 수가 없었다.

나무 가지는 확실하게 가늘고 유연한 느낌을 주었다.

 

 

자방이 벌써 여물고 있다. 5월에 익는다고 하니 급하긴 할 게다.

열매 끝에 2갈래로 갈라진 암술 화주가 보인다. 화주 부분에 털이 많이 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

느릅나무 가지보다 가냘프고 여린 느낌을 줄 정도로 가늘다.

 

 

 

 

가로로 터진 피목이 있다. 청년목이라 아직 수피가 거칠게 갈라지지 않고 있다.
