시무나무(느릅나무과)

2013. 5. 초순. 충북.

 

어린 유목이나 맹아 줄기에는 가시화된 길다란 가시 같은 가지가 나 있어서 으시시한 느낌을 준다.

어릴 적 그 가시를 따서 골뱅이 속을 파 먹기도 했었다.

이렇게 교목으로 큰 나무는 가시가 안 보여서 가시만 기억하는 사람은 시무나무라는 걸 알아채지 못한다.
