보리장나무(보리수나무과) Elaeagnus glabra Thunb.

이 녀석 이태 전 11월에 왔을 때는 개화한 모습을 보여 주더니만 1월 중순인데도 이렇게 꽃을 매달고 있다.

열매의 크기는 개화 시 보다 꽤 자란 모양인데 개화 후 꽃이 떨어지지 않고 그대로 달려 있다.

보리수나무속 열매들 모두 이런 현상이 있던데 왜 꽃을 떨구지 못하고 열매가 익을 때까지 꽃을 매달고 있는지 모르겠다.

보리밥나무에 비하여 잎 뒷면과 열매, 잎자루, 어린 가지에 적갈색 인모가 덮혀 있는데

특히 잎 뒷면이 황금색으로 번들거리는 모습이 인상적이다.

 

 

꽃은 10~12월로 보리밥나무보다 조금 늦은 시기에 피는데

엽액에 달린 백색꽃은 2~3개씩으로 보리밥나무에 비하여 그 수가 적다.

꽃자루에도 어린 가지와 같이 적갈색 인모가 있고 길이 4-7mm로서 꽃이 진 다음에도 길어지지 않는다.

 

 

열매는 5~6월에 붉게 익는데 보리밥나무에 비하여 꽃의 크기가 더 작고 꽃도 드물어서 빈약한 느낌이 든다

 

 

 

잎가장자리가 밋밋하고 뒷면은 적갈색 인모로 덮여 있다.

 

 

 

잎이 두텁고 표면이 광택이 있는 난형이라 마치 동백 잎처럼 보인다.
