감탕나무(감탕나무과) 열매 Ilex integra Thunb.

녹나무과과의 감태나무랑 이름이 비슷하여서 이름 때문에 자꾸만 바꾸어 부르는 경우가 있다.

도감에서만 봐오 던 녀석을 처음 열매로 만났으니 꽃이야 아직 보지 못한 건 당연하고...

 

이 곳 완도 수목원 숲에는 감탕나무가 많이 자생하고 있다.

식재된 것도 있지만 넓은 식묵원 숲에 다른 나무들과 어울려서 붉은  열매를 가득 매달고 있는 모습이 더 마음이 끌린다.

암수딴그루로 높이가 10m에 달하고 줄기는 바로서고 가지가 밀생한다.

수피는 회색이고 처음에는 평활하나 점차 거칠어진다. 가지는 굵고 갈색을 띤다.

 

 

열매는 둥글며 지름 1-1.2cm로서 8-9월에 적색으로 익고 과경은 길이 5-8mm이다

 

 

잎은 호생하며 혁질이고 타원형,긴 타원형 도는 긴 타원상 도란형이며 급한 예두 둔미이고 예저이며 길이 5-10cm, 나비 2-3.5cm로서

양면에 털이 없고 거치가 없거나 2-3개의 톱니가 있으나 맹아지에 붙는 잎에는 거치가 있다

 

 

 

수피는 회색이고 처음에는 평활하나 점차 거칠어진다. 가지는 굵고 갈색을 띤다.

 

높이가 10m에 달하고 줄기는 바로 서고 가지가 밀생한다.
