먼나무(감탕나무과) 수꽃 Ilex rotunda Thunb.

 2015. 6. 하순. 제주.

 

이 녀석 꽃을 이제사 처음 담는다.

아마도 조경수로 심겨진 녀석들 대부분 꽃이 졌을테지만

한라산 북사면 수목원에 용케도 꽃이 남아 있었다.

 

꽃이 없는 겨울  붉은 열매가 황량함을 위로해 주어서

조경수로 아주 인기가 있다.  

암수딴그루인 이 녀석은 수꽃으로 수술대가 길고 암술이 흔적적으로 있지만 자방이 없어서 결실이 안된다.
