잎의 두께가 너무 얇아서 뭐라하기 애매한데 아무래도 꽝꽝나무 같다.
제주에서보는 녀석은 대부분 좀꽝꽝나무라 더 작고 두꺼운 잎을 가지고 있는데
꽝꽝나무는 변산반도와 거제도,보길도,제주도에 분포하며 한라산에서는 1,800m까지 자생한다는데
생각보다 큰 3m까지 자란다고 한다. 수피는 회백색이며 가지와 잎이 무성하고 어린가지에 잔털이 있다니 이를 확인해 봐야겠다.
어린가지에 부드러운 잔털이 보인다.
잎은 호생하고 촘촘히 달리며 타원형, 긴타원형 또는 좁은 도란형이고 예두 또는 둔두이며 예저이고
길이 1.5~3cm(좀꽝꽝나무 8~14mm), 폭은 6-20mm로서 표면은 윤채가 있는 짙은 녹색이며
뒷면은 연록색이고 작은 선점이 있으며 가장자리에 가는 톱니가 있고 엽병은 길이 1-5mm이하라 하는데
이 녀석의 잎이 엄지손톱 크기로 얕은 톱니가 드물게 있고 콥니 끝에 흰 돌기가 보인다.
잎 뒷면은 연한 녹색이다
