소태나무(소태나무과 소태나무속) Picrasma quassioides (D.Don) Benn.

소태맛을 제대로 가르쳐 주는 녀석이다.

잎이나 어린 가지 껍질 조각을 입에 넣기만 해도 그 쓴 맛이 입에 베어서 입을 헹구어도 쓴 맛이 가셔지지 않는다.

이 녀석도 암수딴그루로 암꽃과 수꽃이 따로 핀다. 여태껏 열매 달린 것만 봐 왔더니만 

수그루가 따로 있었던 걸 눈치 채지 못하였다.

 

암꽃이다 아니다 벌써 자방이 커지기 시작하였다. 4개의 자방 가운데 암술대가 있다

5개의 자방이 모두 결실이 되지는 않은 듯하다.

 

 

 

꽃은 녹색이 돌고 지름 8-15cm의 취산화서에 달린다.

4-5개의 꽃잎과 수술이 있으며 합생하는 암술대가 갈라진 자방 밑에 달리고 암술머리가 4개로 갈라진다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 호생하고 기수1회우상복엽이며 소엽은 9-15개이고 난형 또는 긴 난형이며 점첨두이고 의저, 원저 또는 넓은 예저이며 

표면에 털이 없고 윤채가 있으며 뒷면 맥위에 털이 있거나 없고 가장자리에 파상의 톱니가 있다.
