쉬나무(운향과 쉬나무속) Tetradium daniellii (Benn.) T.G.Hartley

 2015. 6. 초순.

 

이 녀석이 오수유로 조사가 되어서 가파른 산길을 낑낑거리고 올랐던 거다.

오르는 길 주변에도 쉬나무가 군데 군데 서 있었고, 할머니네 집 주변이나 건너 밭 가장자리에도 쉬나무가 여러 그루 보였다.

 

중국산 오수유는 집 주변에 더러 심어 재배하기도 하기에

할머니와 이야기 나누면서 혹시나 하여 이 나무를 심은 거냐니까 아니란다.

 

경북지방에서는 쉬나무를 소동나무라고 부르고 있는데 할머니도 나무 이름을 소동나무라고 알려 준다.

열매를 모아서 기름을 짜서 등불 밝히는데 썼다고 한다

 

 

 

이제 화서가 잡히고 있다. 아마도 6월 말 경이 되어야 꽃을 피울 것 같다.
