섬황벽나무(운향과 황벽나무속) Phellodendron insulare Nakai

섬황벽나무라 별도로 분류되어 있지만 육지의 황벽나무와 어떤 차이가 있는지는 모르겠다.

황벽나무는 화서에 털이 있고, 잎 뒷면 맥 위에 긴 털이 있는 것은 털황벽이라 한다.

 

화태황벽나무는 코르크층이 얇고 가장자리의 털이 적으며 화서에 거의 털이 없는데

아마도 내 가까운 산의 녀석이 화태황벽나무가 아닐까 하고 지켜 보고 있다.
