서울로 가는 백두대간 고개를 넘는 길 옆에 메타세쿼이아와 함께 조경되어 심어져 있는 녀석이다.
수령이 꽤 되는 녀석들이니 이 고갯길을 닦을 때 심어 둔 게 아닌가 싶다.
고속도로가 뚫리기 전에는 안동에서 출발하는 서울행 버스가 이 고개를 넘어 다녔더랬다.
3월 8일인가? 아직 꽃눈이 터지지 않은 모습을 보고 왔던 터라 오후 늦게 70km 거리를 달렸다.
이미 붉은 암술은 색이 연해지고 있는 중인데..
헌데 이 녀석 수꽃은 당최 어케 생겼단 말시?
단풍나무과 녀석들은 모두 암수딴그루이다.
대부분의 암수딴그루인 식물들이 그러하듯이
수그루는 아주 많은데 비하여 암그루가 오히려 흔하지 않는게 일반적인데
이 녀석은 오히려 수꽃은 눈을 씻고 봐도 보이지 않으니....
거 참 이상도 하다. 녀석들 모두 빨간 암술만 내밀고 있으니.....
도감의 내용을 확인하니 은단풍나무는 암꽃, 수꽃, 양성화로 개체에 따라 성별이 매년 일정하지 않다고 한다.
이상하여 원본을 확인해 보니 붉은 암술이 돋아나 있는 기부에 수술 꽃밥이 나올 준비를 하고 있다.
수술과 암술이 시차를 두고 나오는 자예선숙 현상을 가지고 있었던 거다.
내가 담아 온 녀석은 대부분 양성화인 거 같은데
두어 장의 사진을 보면 수술이 나올 기미가 안 보이는 녀석이 있다. 암그루일까?
이 녀석도 꽃밥주머니가 뒤늦게 나오려고 하는 것 같기도 하고..........
매년 성별이 일정하지 않다는 뜻은 어쩌면 이 녀석 은단풍이 모두 양성화일 수도 있다는 것일까?
완벽한 수꽃을 피우는 수그루를 만나기 전에는 암그루, 수그루가 별도로 있는지 확신하기 어렵다.
흠~~ 이 녀석 역시 꽃밥주머니가 나오는 중이다. 이 녀석도 양성화인 것이고...
수술 꽃밥주머니가 터질 즈음 다시 가 봐야 쓰겄다.
