이 녀석이 몸에 좋다고 백두대간 고개 자락 큰 나무들이 모두 다 잘려나갔다.
계곡 아래가 사유지인지 몰라도 몇 십년 묵은 산겨릅나무들이 홀라당 껍질이 벗겨진 채로 발가벗긴 등걸만 숲바닥에 뒹굴고 있다.
원래도 큰 교목이니 꽃 담기 수월하지는 않는 데다가 살아 있는 녀석들 찾기도 어려워서 꽃을 담으려는 생각은 포기하고 있었다
헌데 용케도 위쪽 도로변 아래에서 주렁주렁 꽃을 달고 있는 녀석이 반겨주니 어찌나 반갑던지. 수꽃이다.
산 아래 계곡 쪽으로 이렇게 굵은 산겨릅나무들이 베어지고 벗져지고 쓰러져 있었다.
이 녀석은 맹아력이 강해서 살아 있는 뿌리에서 맹아지가 돋아나고 있다.
쓰러져 있는 나무 모두가 산겨릅나무를 베어서
잔가지를 모두 취한 후 굵은 둥치는 껍질을 벗긴 것이다
