비술나무(느릅나무과) Ulmus pumila L.

동강변과 그 지류를 따라 많이 자생하고 있는 느릅나무과이다.

안동 대구간 고속도로변에도 비술나무가 조경되어 있는데 이 녀석은 계곡부나 하천 주변을 좋아하는 모양이다.

 

이른 봄 잎이 나기도 전에 동글동글한 꽃부터 피우는데 꽃밥주머니가 흑자색이 강하여서 붉은색이 도는 느릅나무와 구분이 된다.

잔가지도 매우 가늘어서  아래로 약간 휘어지는 모양을 하며 어린 가지 수피가 회백색을 띠고 있어서

멀리서 보면 전체적으로 희뿌연 느낌을 준다.

 

 

수술대 끝 꽃밥주머니가 터지기 시작하고

아래쪽에 오리 주둥이처럼 2갈래로 갈라진 연두빛 암술도 꽃가루를 받을 준비를 하고 있다.

 

 

 

하루 전 토요일 대구 근교에서 만났던 비술나무는 벌써 이렇게 씨방이 성숙하고 있다.
