산닥나무(팥꽃나무과)2

조선시대에 사찰에서의 종이 생산이 꽤 활발했던 모양이다.

이 녀석이 국내에서 주로 서식을 하고 있는 곳이 사찰 주변의 나지막한 산비탈이라 하니

아마 목판 경전을 인쇄하기 위하여 종이가 많이 필요하지 않았을까 추측해 본다.

이 가느다란 싸리 줄기 같은 줄기의 껍질로 종이를 만드려면 얼마나 많은 녀석을 채취해야 했을런지....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

종자 발아율이 좋은 모양이다.

종자가 떨어져서 싹이 터서 자라고 있는 작은 개체들이 주변에 가득하다.

 

 

 

키가 별로 크지 않은 녀석도 가지 끝에 꽃을 피우고 있다. 작지만 몇 년은 묵었을 것이다.
