두메닥나무(팥꽃나무과)

한 주일만 늦었더라면 열매가 다 떨어지고 없을 뻔하였다.

이미 바닥에는 떨어진 열매가 깔려 있을 정도였으니......

 

앵두같이 붉은 두메닥나무 열매가 이리 풍성하게 달린 녀석은 처음 본다.

물론 시기를 늦게 찾아가서 그럴 수도 있지만 관묵 숲 그늘 아래서 자라느라고 결실이 충실하지 못한 까닭도 있을 것이다.

 

헌데 이 곳도 불안하다.

군데 군데 패여진 구덩이가 보인다. 설마...이 녀석들은 파 간 건 아니겠지....

 

 

북쪽 고산 지역 숲에 자라는 녀석은 이른 봄 생강나무 꽃이 필 때 쯤 잎눈과 함께 옅은 보라색기운이 있는 다육질의 꽃을 피운다

 

 

 

 

유난히 세로 주름이 많은 가지는 마치 고무로 만든 것처럼 부드러워서 큰 각으로도 부러지지 않고 휘어지는 특징이 있다.

 

 

암수딴그루라고는 하는데 어떤 차이점이 있는지 아직 모르겠고 대부분 열매를 달고 있는 것으로 봐서는

백서향처럼 암수딴그루에 대한 잘못된 정보가 그대로 이기되고 있는 건 아닌지 모르겠다.
