제주백서향(팥꽃나무과)

꽃이 한창일 때는 꽃을 좇아 다니느라고 곶자왈을 제대로 살펴 보지 못하는데 이번 겨울 제주는 곶자왈 여행이 되었다

이 곶자왈은 백서향이 많아서 숲에 들어서면 백서향 달콤한 향으로 기분이 좋다. 올해는 예년 보다 백서향이 일찍 개화를 하였다.

 

곶자왈은 이쪽 저쪽으로 연결되어서 큰 흐름으로 묶여지고 있다.

곶자왈 가까이 까지 새로운 시설이 들어 오는 바람에 주변의 헤쳐져서 황량한 모습이 안쓰럽다.

숲 가장자리의 상록수에 붉은 리본을 묶어 놓은 걸 보니 곧 옮겨지거나 베어질 모양이다. 속이 쓰리다.

 

한국의 나무 책자에 보면 백서향이 암수딴그루로 기재되어 있다. 열매를 아직 보지 못하였다.

같은 팥꽃나무과인 두메닥나무와 열매가 비슷한 것 같던데 5~7월에 열매가 익을 때 다시 들러 봐야겠다.
