울릉도와 섬지역의 분꽃나무가 잎이 더 큰 원형으로 엽질도 더 두껍다.
잎이 타원형, 난형인 내륙형 녀석을 섬분꽃나무라 하고
잎이 광난형, 원형으로 섬지역에 분포하는 녀석을 분꽃나무로 분류하기도 한다.
이상하게 뒤바뀐 국명
울릉농업기술지원센터의 녀석이다
산지에서 자라는 녀석들은 높은 바위벽에 터를 잡아서 담기가 쉽지 않다.
