강계큰물통이(쐐기풀과 물통이속)=>고깔물통이 Pilea pauciflora

몇 군데서 만난 강계큰물통이가 조금씩 차이가 나는 모습을 보인다.

이 녀석은 잎 표면에 털이 많은 편이고 엽저가 절저에 가까울 정도로 무척 넓다.

 

전북의 산에서 만난 녀석은 강원도의 녀석보다 잎 표면에 털이 적다.

털이 거의 안 나타날 정도라....제주큰물통이를 인정해 줘야 할까?

한국산 물통이속(Pilea)에 대한 연구를 진행하던 중, 현재까지 기록되지 않은 분류군을 강원도 태백시 금대봉 일대에서 발견하여 미기록종으로 발표하고자 한다. 미기록종인 P. pauciflora는 중국 간쑤성과 쓰촨성의 해발 2,000m 이상의 습한 지역에만 분포한다고 알려진 희귀식물로서 암꽃 화피편 3장 중 1장은 고깔 모양으로 길게 신장되어 수과의 한쪽 면을 감싸면서 뾰족하게 솟아 있으며, 1쌍의 측화피편은 다른 1장에 비해 극히 짧은 특징으로 근연종들과 뚜렷하게 구별된다. 또한 분자유전학적 연구에서도 근연종인 모시물통이, 큰물통이, 물통이와는 명확하게 다른 종임을 보여주었다. 국명은 암꽃 화피편이 수과를 감싼 형태가 고깔모자를 쓴 모습과 유사하여 “고깔물통이”로 신칭하였다.
