석회암 지대 음습한 곳에서 자라는 녀석이다.
초장이 10cm 정도로 작은 녀석으로 긴 잎자루 끝에 3개의 맥을 가지며 둥근톱니가 3~4쌍 인 잎을 가지고 있다.
얼핏 보면 산물통이와 비슷하지만 산물통이는 톱니의 수가 많고 뾰족하며 잎 꼬리가 더 길게 빠진다
산물통이는 길다란 화경을 가지고 화서가 잎 위로 안테나처럼 올라오지만
이 녀석의 화서는 잎겨드랑이에 붙어 있다.
5시가 넘은 시각에 어두운 숲에서 찾아 담으려니 셔터 속도가 안 나온다.
잎가장자리와 표면에 성글게 잔털이 있고 3~4쌍의 둔한 톱니가 있다.
줄기와 잎자루에 털이 없고 엽액에서 작은 화서가 달린다.
줄기가 갈라지지 않지만 더러 큰 녀석들은 아래쪽에서 분지한 작은 가지가 보이기도 한다.
옆에 큰물통이와 함께 있어서 잎 모양에서 비교가 된다
큰물통이와 강계큰물통이가 한 포기씩 사이를 두고 어깨동무하고 있다.
표본용으로 채집해 온 녀석을 관찰해 보면
초장이 15~23cm
잎자루 보통 1.0~1.5cm 최대 2.5cm, 잎 길이1.5.~ 2.2cm 너비 1.5~2.0cm
잎 표면과 가장자리에 털 있음 , 뒷면 맥 위의 털을 확인하지 못함
