소백산 이북의 고산지대에서 자란다는 왜솜다리를 강원도 어느 골짝에서 만난다.
이 곳도 찾는 발걸음 잦아지더니만 작년에 보이던 녀석들이 귀한 녀석들이 다 사라져 버렸다. 이런 몸쓸 놈의 손길이라니.....
=> 솜다리속 재분류에 의하여 왜솜다리가 솜다리로 정리가 되었다.
꽃은 8-9월에 피고 회백색이며 두화는 잡성으로서 1개 또는 여러 개가 모여 달리고 총포는 길이 4-5mm, 나비 5mm정도이며 포편은 3줄로 배열되고 끝이 뾰족하며 뒷면에 축모가 밀생한다.
높이 25-55cm이고 줄기는 총생하며 곧게 서고 윗부분이 약간 갈라지고 윗부분까지 잎이 달리며 백색 면모로 덮여 있다.
근생엽과 밑부분의 잎은 개화무렵에 없어진다.
경생엽은 호생하며 엽병이 없고 피침형 또는 긴 타원형이며 끝이 뾰족하고 밑부분이 좁으며 길이 4~6.5cm, 폭 5~14mm로
엽초가 없고 표면에 면모가 있거나 없으며 뒷면에 회백색 면모가 있다.
포엽은 드물게 달리고 윗부분의 잎보다 작으며 표면에 황회색 털이 있다.
