백두산떡쑥(국화과 백두산떡쑥속) Antennaria dioica (L.) Gaertn.

식물원에 식재되어 있던 백두산떡쑥을 처음 만났다.

잎에 거미줄 같은 뽀얀 털이 많아서 회록색을 띠고  방석처럼 펼쳐져 있는데 붉은색의 총포가 꽃처럼 고왔다.

관모가 보이기 시작하는데 아직 개화가 안 되어 아쉽다. 백두산 주변에서는 아직 만나보지 못하였다.

북부지방의 건조한 풀밭에 자라는 여러해살이풀이다. 땅속줄기는 가늘고 옆으로 뻗으며, 길이 2~5cm, 끝에서 줄기가 나온다. 줄기는 높이 6~20cm, 가지가 갈라지지 않으며 흰색 털로 덮여 있다.  우리나라 북부지방에 나며, 러시아, 몽골, 중국 동북부를 비롯하여 유럽, 북아메리카 알래스카 등에 분포한다. 다북떡쑥속 식물에 비해 총포가 3~5줄로 배열하고, 관모 끝이 굵어져 편평하며, 솜다리속 식물에 비해 총포 조각 뒷면에 털이 적거나 없는 점으로 구분된다. -출처 :국립생물자원관 포털-
