보리장나무(보리수나무과) Elaeagnus glabra Thunb.

지난 해 11월 늦은 날

이 곳 완도에서 그렇게 만나보고 싶어 헤메던 보리장나무를 발견하고는 폴짝폴짝 뛰었던

바로 그 녀석을 다시 찾았다.

 

수목원 숲이라서 지난 해 그 자리 근방을 한참 뒤져도 잘 안 보이길래 한 자리에서 가만히 쪼그리고 앉아서

주변의 나무 기둥 사이로 레이더를 돌리는 데 멀리서 걸려드는 덩굴성의 너브데한 잎.

 

부리나케 쫓아가니 제대로 짚었다. 이 녀석을 다시 찾은 이유는 열매를 보기 위함인데...

시기가 좀 늦었을 거라 생각은 했지만 매정하게도 한 알도 보이지 않는다.

광택이 강한 두터운 혁질의 잎에 , 적갈색 인모가 덮인 꽃과 열매, 붉은 줄기와 잎뒷면이 이 녀석을 알아볼 수 있는 특징이다

제주도를 비롯한 남부지방 해안변의 표고 400m 이하 계곡 등지에서 자생한다

번들거리는 잎 뒷면의 적갈색 인모가 이 녀석의 특징인데

꽃은 10~12월에 피고 열매는 5~6월에 붉게 익는데 보리밥나무에 비하여 꽃의 크기가 더 작고 꽃도 드물다

  

 

 

 

 

 

덩굴성으로 어린 가지에 갈색 인모가 있다. 줄기가 길게 뻗지만 다른 물체를 감지 않는다.
