드뎌 실망초를 찾았다.
꽃이 망초와 비슷하나 설상화가 없고 잎이 선형이다.
작년 가을에 망초를 보고 혹시나 실망초가 아닐싸 하고 설상화를 유심히 들여다 보았었는데
제주도에서 실망초를 찾았다. 큰망초도 함께 밭가에 잡초로 자라고 있었다.
꽃은 4~7월에 황백색으로 피고 가지와 줄기 끝에 총상으로 달리며
두화는 화경이 길고
설상화가 거의 없으며
소화는
외측의 것이 암꽃이고 내측의 것이 양성화이다
.
과실은 수과로 원추형이고 관모는 칙칙한 백색이다. 망초에 비해 전체가 회록색이고 가지가 줄기보다 길며
설상화가 거의 없고 소화가 약간 많으며 화상은 과시의 지름이 2~4mm로 보다 크다.
줄기는 곧추서며 가지가 쳐서 주간보다 높아지며 회백색 털이 밀생한다.
높이 30~90cm 까지 자라나 30~50cm에서 생장이 중지된다.
잎은 호생하고 하부의 잎은 도피침형으로 때로 거친 톱니가 있으나 흔히 물결모양이며
상부의 잎은 선형으로 가장자리가 밋밋하고 밀생한다.
