섬괴불나무(인동과)

이 녀석도 울릉도 특산식물이다. 울릉도의 표고 800m 이하 해안가 산록에서 자생한다.

대체로 울릉도에서만 자생하는 식물에는 <섬>이란 접두어가 붙는다.

 

괴불나무속의 열매는 꽃자루 하나에 별개의 자방을 가진 꽃이 2개씩 핀다.

열매가 성숙할 때 보면 거의 하나가 되는 청괴불나무가 있고 반 쯤 합쳐지는 녀석들도 있고 섬괴불나무처럼 완전히 분리된 녀석도 있다.

 

 

 

장과는 서로 떨어져 있으며 둥글고 지름 8mm 정도로서 7~8월에 붉게 익는다.

 

 

꽃은 5~6월에 피며 액생하고 화경은 길이 1cm정도로서 털이 있으며 2개의 꽃이 달리고 꽃받침열편은 난형 또는 타원형이며 가장자리에 선모가 있고 길이 5-10㎜이다. 화관은 백색이지만 황색으로 된다. 수술대는 털과 선점이 있으며 암술대는 털이 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

포는 선형이며 길이 5-8mm로서 털이 있고 소포는 난형 둔두이며 가장자리에 선모가 있고 자방보다 짧다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 대생하고 길이 4~8cm, 나비 2~4cm로서 난형, 도란형, 타원형 또는 타원상 도란형이며 첨두 도는 둔두이고 넓은 예저, 원저 또는 아심장저이며 표면에는 처음에 털이 있다가 맥 위에만 남고 뒷면에는 융모가 있으며 가장자리가 밋밋하고 엽병은 길이 3-5mm이다

 

 

 

높이 5-6m이며 줄기는 올라와 우산모양을 이루고 어린가지에는 융모가 있으며 골속은 비어 있다.

정아(頂芽)는 뾰족하지만 측아는 난상 원형으로서 작으며 털이 있다.
