남한강변의 단양쑥부쟁이를 만나고.. 참취속) Aster altaicus var. uchiyamae Kitam.

단양의 <단양>이에 확신을 가질 수 없어서 여주의 <단양>이를 보고자  안달을 하고 있었는데,

마침 시간이 생겼다. 고속도로를 달리고 국도로 접어들기를 1시간 40분 남짓 하얀 억새꽃 하늘거리는 강변에 도착하였다.

 단양쑥부쟁이는 이미 거의 사그러져 가고 있는 분위기였지만 원하던 것을 충분하게 담았다.

 

역시 단양의 단양이와는 잎 모양에서 확실하게 다른 단양쑥부쟁이였다.

선형의 가느다란 잎이 확연하였고 단양에서 발견하지 못한 1년초 로제트 잎과

위쪽 잎과 별반 다름 없는 근생엽까지. 그리고 단양의 단양이에 없던 결각상의 드문 톱니까지....

그러면 단양의 단양이는 <단양쑥부쟁이>가 아니라 <가는쑥부쟁이>이가 아닐까? 하는 생각이 든다.

 

근데.....에혀~! 돈 나오는 것도 아니고 밥 나오는 것도 아닌데 내가 미쳤어~! 

 오늘의 단양쑥부쟁이와 만남이 기름값에 고속도로 통행료에 하루의 시간을 투자할만큼 가치를 부여할 수 있을까? 

 꽃자루 부분의 잎은 거의 폭이 1mm정도로 가느다란 선형에 가깝다.

 

포엽의 끝이 뾰족하고 선형이다.  

두화는 지름 4cm정도이고 화경에 선상의 잎이 많이 달리며 총포는 반구형이고 길이 8-10mm, 나비 16-20mm이며

포편은 2줄로 배열되고 끝이 뾰족하며 뒷면에 털이 다소 있다.  

 수과는 편평한 도란형이고 털이 밀생하며 관모는 길이 4mm정도로서 붉은빛이 돈다.

 

 

 위쪽에서 가지가 많이 갈라졌다. 어린 1년생 개체가 옆에 보인다.  

 

 

중앙부의 잎은 엽병이 없고 선형이며 끝이 뾰족하고 길이 3.5-5.5cm, 나비 1-3mm로서 털이 다소 있으며 가장자리가 밋밋하다.

 

단양쑥부쟁이는 가느다란 잎의 1년생 로제트가 특징이다. 단양읍 자생지에서는 이 로제트를 발견할 수가 없었다.

 

줄기가 20cm 정도 자란 1년초. 내년에는 이 가지 끝에 여러 개로 가지가 분지하면서 꽃이 핀다.

 

 아래 쪽 잎은 긴 타원형이 아니라 잎 아래부분과 중간부분의 폭이 비슷한 선형이고, 드물게 결각상 톱니가 보인다.

  중간부분 잎의 폭은 2~3mm 정도

 

아래쪽 잎 3~4mm 정도

 

아래쪽 잎의 길이가 10~12cm까지 길다.

 오늘 여주 강천 강변의 단양쑥부쟁이를 보고 나니 이제 오리지널 단양쑥부쟁이가 눈에 들어온다.

단양의 단양쑥부쟁이를 보고 무언가 찜찜하여 이 곳의 진짜 단양이를 확인하고자 하였는 거다.

 

헌데 단양의 절벽 위에 있는 녀석 개체의 근생엽과 아래부분 잎이 말라 버려서 확인이 어려운 점은 있었지만

절벽 아래 산재해 있는 개체는 분명 강천의 단양이와는 다른 녀석이라 할 수 있다.

 

또, 단양에서는 로제트 1년초가 전혀 발견되지 않았다는 점도 내 의구심을 뒷받침한다.

강천의 단양이와 비교해 봤을 때  단양읍 절벽의 단양쑥부쟁이를 과연 단양이로 불러줄 수 있을까?
