작년 단양쑥부쟁이 자생지가 4대강 개발로 뒤집어져서 물속에 잠긴다고 정치인이 자생지에서 쑥부쟁이와 폼 잡고 사진을 찍고

일부단체들도 쑥부쟁이를 크게 이슈화시키고 언론에서도 한동안 야단이었다.

금방이라고 단양쑥쟁이가 멸종되어 버린 듯 참말로 야단법석을 떨었다.

 

올해도 인터넷에 검색되는 기사를 읽은 적이 있는데 몇 만 포기를 이식해 둔 곳에 몇 백포기가 죽었다고

하나하나 포기를 세었다면서 단양쑥부쟁이 관리에 비난을 하면서 열을 올렸다.

 

강의 개발로 인하여 주변의 중요한 자연이 훼손되는 것에 대한 우려는 이해가 간다.

나 또한 자연 환경의 인위적인 파괴에 대하여는 찬성하지 않는다. 자생지가 사라지게 되는 것 또한 애석한 일이다.

 

허나 씨앗으로 번식되는 것은 어디든지 살아 남는다. 서식지 환경이 좋으면 번식도 쉽게 이루어진다.

이식 장소에 몇 백포기가 죽었다고 말라죽은 포기를 세어서 그걸 관리 부실이네 어떠네 하는 건 너무 넌센스가 아닐까?

산에 심은 어린 나무 묘목들도 어디 100% 다 살아 남는 줄 아는가?  나는 그런 극성스러움이 질린다.

 

남한강 줄기 주변에 서식했던 단양쑥부쟁이는 강 줄기 어디엔가에는 분명 살고 있다. 우리의 눈에 띄지 않았을 뿐이다.

오늘 그 단양쑥부쟁이를 충주 부근에서 자생하고 있는 걸 확인하고 왔으니 앞서 언급한 말에 대한 근거는 충분하겠지.

아마 남한 강변의 모래를 실어 와서 길을 만드느라고 함께 씨앗이 옮겨 온 것 같았다. 많은 개체를 보고 왔으니 적이 안심은 된다.

 

 

 

 

 

꽃은 8-9월에 피고 자주색이며 두화는 지름 4cm정도이고 화경에 선상의 잎이 많이 달리며

설상화관은 2줄로 달리고 길이 2cm, 나비 3mm정도이다.

 

총포는 반구형이고 길이 8-10mm, 나비 16-20mm이며 포편은 2줄로 배열되고 끝이 뾰족하며 뒷면에 털이 다소 있다.

 

 

 

 

근생엽은 꽃이 필 때 없어지며 중앙부의 잎은 엽병이 없고 선형이며 끝이 뾰족하고 길이 3.5-5.5cm, 나비 1-3mm로서

털이 다소 있으며 가장자리가 밋밋하거나 드물게 톱니가 있다.

 

 

 

 수과는 편평한 도란형이고 털이 밀생하며 관모는 길이 4mm정도로서 붉은빛이 돈다.

 내년을 기다리는 신초다. 이렇게 월동을 하여 내년에 줄기를 올리고 싹 튼지 2년 만에 개화를 한다.
