한라산은 가을을 준비하고 있었다.
매년 8월 초순이나 중순에 다녀 가다 보니 이 녀석을 제대로 만나보지 못하였더랬다.
아직은 개화 초기인데 다가 워낙 주변 풀들과 엉기며 보폭하는 가는 줄기 끝에 한 개씩 꽃을 피우다 보니
전초나 잎의 모습을 담기가 쉽지가 않은 녀석이었다.
다행하게도 정상부이 등산로 주변에 적당하게 담을 수 있는 모델을 만나서
쑥부쟁이속 원고에 이 녀석 자료를 충분히 확보하게 되었다.
한라산 고산 지역에 사는 이 녀석은 뿌리에서 나온 몇 개의 가지가 분지하여 비스 듬하게누워서 방석처럼 퍼진다.
총포와 관모는 개쑥부쟁이 흡사하지만 줄기가 눕는다고 하여 눈개쑥부쟁이라 이름을 얻게 되었다.
두화는 지름 2.5cm 정도이고 포엽은 선형으로서 총포편과 같으며
총포는 반구형이고 길이 6-7mm 포편은 2줄로 배열되고 길이가 비슷하며 끝이 길게 뾰족해지고 뒷면에 굳센 털이 있다.
줄기 중앙부의 잎과 윗부분의 잎은 선형이며 촘촘히 달리고 양면에 털이 있으며 가장자리에 밋밋하다.
근생엽은 주걱형이며 끝이 둔하고 밑부분이 흐르며 양면에 털이 있으나 꽃이 필 때 없어지고 가장자리에 둔한 톱니가 있다.
높이는 15-25cm이고 밑에서부터 가지가 갈라져서 옆으로 자라다가 윗부분이 곧추선다.
관모가 붉은색으로 길다
