왕갯쑥부쟁이(국화과 참취속) 관모 살피기 Aster magnus Y.N.Lee & C.S.Kim

일전에 왕갯쑥부쟁이를 보러 갔다가 관모를 관찰한 결과를 정리하면서 왕갯쑥부쟁이로 보는 게 과연 맞겠나 하고 의문을 제기했더랬다.

그 문제를 쑥부쟁이 전공 교수님께 말씀드리니 설상화 관모가 긴 것이 무리 중에 있다는 대답을 듣고

내가 겨우 두 개체만 살피고 아니라고 결론을 내린 게 너무 섣불렀다 생각이 들었다.

 

마침 제주도에 있던 꽃동무가 설상화 관모가 긴 것을 관찰한 걸 레포트 했길래

갑자기 나타난 낯 선 남자에게 쫓기듯 도망나오면서 챙겨 왔던 3개의 열매 관모가 완전하게 자라서

드뎌 종자가 떨어지기 직전이라 열매를 모두 털어서 관모를 살펴 봤다 

 

3 송이를 모두 털어서 설상화 열매와 통상화 열매를 분류해 보니 3가지 유형이 나타난다.

 

개체 <1>

설상화 관모가 아주 짧은 형이다.

이 건 갯쑥부쟁이나 섬갯쑥부쟁이의 설상화 관모와 유사한 형태인데,

섬갯쑥부쟁이 설상화 관모는 백색이지만 이 녀석은 황갈색이다.

 

 

 

 

개체 <2>

두번 째 송이는 설상화 관모가 대부분 짧지만 몇 개의 열매는 관모 중 몇 가닥이 긴 것이 섞여 있는 형이다.

 

 

 

개체 <3>

왕갯쑥부쟁이 논문에 기재되어 있는 설상화 관모가 통상화 관모 길이에 거의 근접하는 형이다(3~4mm)

이 녀석이 왕갯쑥부쟁이라 할 수 있는 관모의 모습을 하고 있다.

 

 

결국 한 곳에 3가지 유형의 관모가 혼재되어 나타나고 있다는 게 확인이 되었다.

그러면 왕갯쑥부장이의 특징에 부합되거나 아닌 것이 섞여 있는 이 무리들을 모두 왕갯쑥부장이로 볼 수 있겠는가 하는 의문은 역시 진행형이다

 

외형적으로는 꽃이 크고 잎이 주걱형이고 줄기와 열매에 털이 없는 같은 형태인데도 이렇게 관모의 모습이 여러 가지 형태로 나타나고 있는데

많은 무리 중에서 이 녀석이 왕갯쑥부장이다 라고 할 수 있을런지? 참 난감한 사실이다.
