단양의 <단양>이는 단양쑥부쟁이가 아닐 수도...1

남한강변 자갈밭에 주로 서식한다는 단양쑥부쟁이기 사라질 위기에 있다고 하는 보도가 있었다.

남한강 유역에 대군락지를 발견하였는데 4개강 유역 개발을 위한 보 설치로 수장 위기에 처했다고.

 

그 단양쑥부쟁이를 올해 가기 전에 만나고 싶어서 인터넷의 기사를 뒤지니 여주의 남한강변과 단양이 검색된다. 

보고자븐 건 참으면 병이 된디꼬 하니 상사병 깊어지기 전에 토요일 퇴근하면서 바로 단양으로 냅다 달렸다.

엊 저녁부터 몰아치는 비바람에 걱정이 되었는데 다행스럽게도 오후가 되니 비는 그쳐 준다.

거센 바람으로 쑥부쟁이가 요동을 쳤지만 만나길 소원하던 녀석 원없이 담았다.

 

단양쑥부쟁이는 단양에서 처음 발견된 쑥부쟁이로 개쑥부쟁이와 매우 유사하나 잎이 무척 가느다란 게 특징이다.

<단양이>란 이름을 붙이고는 있지만 댐 건설로 인한 수몰로 정작 단양에서는 찾아보기 힘들고 남한강 강변 자갈밭에 서식하고 있단다.

  근데 남한강변에 꽤나 많이 자생하는 걸로 알려진 단양쑥부쟁이가 왜 멸종 위기 2급식물로 지정되었는지 이해가 안된다.

  

  헌데 정리하면서 잎을 보니 어 떤 개체는 아랫쪽 잎이 생각보다 넓다. 아무래도 찜찜한 녀석들이 섞여 있는 것 같다.

 

<개체 1> 단양이 아닌 것으로 보임

이 녀석은 단양이가 발견되었다는 절벽 아래  풀 속에 자라고 있는 것으로 꽃줄기 아래 잎이 생각보다 넓다.

여주의 강천면 강변에서 담아 올려진 ㅅㅇ님의 자료와 좀 차이가 있는 것 같다. 아무래도 <단양>으로 보기에는 무리가 있을 듯하다.

 

  

단양이 아닌 것으로 추정   

 

<개체 2> 단양쑥부쟁이에 근접절벽에 살고 있는 녀석인데  아래로 축 늘어져 있다. 가느다란 잎이 보인다. 동정에 필요한 줄기 아랫부분의 잎은 이미 말라 버려서 확인이 안된다.

<개체 3> 역시 절벽에 있는 녀석, 개쑥부쟁이처럼 줄기 위쪽에 가지를 많이 친다.

 잎의 가운데 부분이 양끝에 비하여 너비를 가진다는데 <단양>이로 보기에 의문이 있다.

 

절벽에 있는 이 녀석은 위쪽 잎이 잎이 무척 가늘었다. 그런데 가는쑥부쟁이도 잎이 가늘고 긴데...

가는쑥부쟁이는 잎 가장자리가 뒤로 말리거나 양면에 털이 많다고 한다. 또 열매의 관모가 1/4-1/2mm로 불완전하다고 한다.

 

 

가지고 있던 자로 재어보니 위쪽 잎은 폭이 3~4mm, 길이 5~6cm 정도로 매우 가늘었다.

그러면 절벽에 있는 녀석은 <단양>에 가장 접근 한 것 같기도 한데, 여주의 단양이는 줄기 위쪽 잎의 너비가 2mm 정도로 좁았다.

호수 쪽 축대 위에 있는 개체의 아래쪽 잎은 너비가 6~7mm 정도였다.

이 녀석도 <단양> 과는 거리가 있는 듯하다. 가는잎쑥부쟁이가 아닐까?

 

따라서 단양읍에 절벽에 사는 단양쑥부쟁이는 정말 단양이 맞을까 하는 의심을 가지고 왔다.

왜 이곳에는 실처럼 가느다란 잎에 결각상 톱니가 드물게 있는 1년생 개체가 전혀 눈에 띄지 않을까?
