생물자원관의 일로 제주도에 출장을 오게 되었다. 거문오름 식생 탐방 시간이 약간 남아서 공항 가까운 곳으로 달렸다.
거의 같은 시각에 도착한 두 분과 동행하여 제주 지리에 밝은 내가 렌트 차량을 운전하고 목적지에 도착하였다.
오후에 비가 올거라는 일기 예보가 무색할 정도로 해가 짜랑짜랑하여 안심이 되었다.
두분 모두 아직 개구리갓을 보지 못하였기에 산책길을 오르는데 주변에 장딸기와 왕벚나무 꽃이 활짝 폈다.
벚나무는 변이가 심하여 꽃차례 자루 길이, 작은꽃자루 길이와 털의 유무, 잎자루 털의 유무와 형태에서 중간형이 많이 나타나서 참 애매하다.
벚나무 : 자방, 암술대, 꽃자루에 모두 털 없음, 꽃차례 꽃자루 있음
산벚나무 : 자방, 암술대, 꽃자루에 모두 털 없음, 꽃차례 꽃자루 없음 (덕유산,지리산 등 높은산지)
왕벚나무 : 꽃자루, 꽃받침통, 암술대 밑부분 털 있음 (제주도) ,
잔털벚나무 : 벚나무와 같지만 꽃자루, 암술대, 잎 뒷면, 잎자루에 털 많음(낮은산지)
선벚나무 : 산벚나무에 비하여 꽃이 약간 작고 작은꽃자루 길이가 짧음
올벚나무 : 자방 윗부분, 암술대, 꽃자루에 모두 털 있음, 꽃받침통이 볼록하게 부풀어 있음

제주도에 자생하는 왕벚나무다.
올해는 개화 적기에 도착하여 벚나무속을 제대로 관찰 할 수가 있었다.
꽃차례자루와 꽃자루에 털이 밀생한다.
암술대 중간 이하 부분에도 털이 있다
개체에 따라 털의 밀도에는 차이가 많았다.
헌데 이 녀석은 꽃자루가 엄청 길고 털의 밀도가 너무 낮아서 왕벚으로 보기에는 무척 애매하다
잎자루에도 털이 많다
꽃잎이 바닥에 자리를 깔았다.
바람이 얼마나 불던지 사진 촬영이 어려울 정도였다.
