꼬불꼬불 해안도로를 따라 서행하면서 계속 산자락 숲에서 눈을 뗄 수가 없다
분명 이 쯤일텐데.....이정표를 지났는데도 잔털벚나무만 나타나고 찾지를 못하겠다.
할 수 없이 전화로 도움을 청하니 아직 몇 구비 더 지나야 한단다.
좁은 도로에 마주 오는 차량이 없음을 다행이라 생각하며
고개를 꺾어들고 비탈을 쳐다보며 한참을 더 이동하니
오오~!!! !
산비탈에 우렁한 기세의 벚나무 한 그루가 당당하게 서 있다.
꽃이 거의 떨어진 모습이니 저 녀석이 분명하렸다.
오가는 차량도 없는 해안 둘레길이라 그냥 차를 세웠다.
혹시라도 나처럼 정신 없는 여행객이 있어서 이 길로 들어섰다면 잠시 기다려 달라고 양해를 구할 수 밖에 없다
마침 아래로 늘어져 있는 가지 하나 있어서 쉽게 관찰할 수가 있었다
제대로 찾은 게 맞았다.
꽃잎이 거의 떨어져 버렸지만 항아리 모양의 꽃받침통과 자잘한 꽃, 꽃자루의 털이 올벚나무임을 확인해 준다.
자생의 올벚나무로는 손가락에 꼽힐 정도로 수령이 오래된 것 같다
다른 벚나무 녀석들 보다 더 일찍 꽃이 피는 데다가 어제 저녁 태풍같은 강풍에 꽃잎은 거의 다 떨어졌다.
그래도 올벚나무의 특징을 확인할 수 있으니 그걸로도 대만족이다
꽃은 다른 종보다 확실하게 작았다
꽃자루가 2cm를 넘지 않고
잎도 마찬가지로 근처에 있는 잔털벚나무보다 더 작았다.
굵은 둥치의 수피는 세로로 갈라져 있었다
