구실잣밤나무(참나무과)

마을 주변 숲이나 가로수로 많이 심겨져 있는 구실잣밤나무가 한창 꽃을 피우고 있어서 비릿한 밤나무 꽃 향기가 진동을 한다

 

향 뿐만 아니라 새 가지 아랫부분 잎겨드랑이에 길게 늘어진 수꽃화서는 밤나무 꽃이랑 거의 흡사하다.

암꽃은 새 가지 끝 부분 잎겨드랑이에 달리는데 암술대가 3갈래로 갈라져 있다.
