온 녀석들이 벌써 열매를 다 떨구고 있는데 하천 가 공원 옆에 서 있던 이 녀석은
게으름을 피웠는지 아직도 깍정이를 벌리지 못하고 종자를 품고 있다.
덕분에 열매가 달린 모습을 담을 수가 있어서 다행이긴 하지만.
다급한 녀석들이 탈출을 시도하고 있었는데
수목원에서는 직박구리들이 열매란 열매는 죄다 먹어 버려서 겨우 몇 알 주워 담은 것이다
깍정이는 3개로 갈라지면서 길다란 도토리 모양의 종자가 떨어지는데
잘 마른 열매를 까서 먹어보면 밤 맛도 느껴지도 잣 맛도 느껴진다. 아마도 그래서 잣밤나무라 했을 거다
봄에 꽃이 펴서 이듬해 가을에 열매가 익는데
일년생 열매는 좁쌀만하게 가지 끝에 붙어 있어서 눈에 잘 띄지 않는다
