이젠 어린 열매가 금방 눈에 띈다.
가시나무속이나 모밀잣밤나무속 녀석들은 꽃이 핀 해에는 아주 작은 모습으로 가지 끝에서 해를 넘기고 이듬해 가을이 되어야 열매가 익는다
가지 끝에 새 봄에 필 동아가 있고 그 옆에 지난 봄에 달린 열매가 벌레처럼 자잘하게 모양만 갖추고 있다.
올해 새로 꽃이 필 암꽃 꽃차례는 5~6월 경 새 가지 끝 부분의 잎 겨드랑이에서 자란다.
아래 녀석은 암꽃 꽃차례가 아니라 일년이 지나는 어린 열매가 달린 가지이가
일년을 지낸 어린 열매가 달려 있는 모습이다
잎 상반부에 물결 모양의 거치가 있고 잎 뒷면은 보통 연한 갈색이 돈다.
